 Calie Schmidt grew up in the middle of a large family of steps, halfs and wholes, each person adding elements and color that helped shape her outlook on life. As a native of the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico lent her further dimension with its rich culture, art and history. Growing up, one of her favorite memories is sitting on the floor in the  evening listening to her Papa tell and re-tell old stories passed down from his father or from history. She received the love of reading and writing honestly from her mother.

​​​Now grown with a family of her own, Calie hopes to pass that same love to her five children. Her goal is to teach them about the beauties in life through the art of poetry and storytelling. Her motto: Feel the spirit, write what I know, hope to inspire.
