What would you do with the strength and power of a mountain? Raised in the last standing wing of a once mighty castle, lonely years pass slowly. Ransom, commanded to remain far from prying eyes, passes the time studying, training, and watching. Alone he waits for the day his father allows him to leave, remaining steadfast and loyal, but a desire to use his gifts beckons with each passing day. Finally eighteen, Ransom decides to seek a place in the royal army where powers of strength and healing can be used. Just when mind is made up, a runaway appears. The beautiful Imelda has her own problems to contend with, but with a little charm and a lot of blackmail she agrees to lead the way to his destiny. Together, Ransom and Imelda set out to find the places where they belong.
